The humorous cheated husband!

By Giannis Stefanos Tsekouras

Although the fact of adultery occurs from the beginning of the world, the societies in question had instituted a way to safeguard their good morals and hypocritical behavior.

If we look at Greek Mythology which is full of such acts, but also in the Bible with the well-known extramarital affair of David, we realize that it is an issue that has to do with the primordial human behavior.

Thus the sin of adultery aroused the imagination and aroused curiosity. But each time the treatment was different. You see, ethics are different in every age and in every society.

The teacher knew something , that claimed that passion is without malice and his forbearing  is beyond and far from morality.

The Arabelos

the shoemaker who listened to Mozart and arias

By Giannis Stefanos Tsekouras

Somewhere in the year one thousand nine hundred and eighty-three, in the middle of the month of June, I had gone to get my daughter's sandals from the shoemaker. It was a minor repair. The shoemaker's shop was at the beginning of Odysseas Androutsos Street, at the point where it intersects Rozakis - Aggelis Street, both streets located in the center of the city of Lamia. The few shops located in this alley were old constructions, which of course over the years had lost their identity and their original style due to the renewal of a door or the addition of other materials later. All this, they give their image a kitsch image character and were reminiscent of slums in Rio de Janeiro, the famous "favelas".

Unique experiences from the Zimbabwean Orthodox Mission

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19). The Cypriot Metropolitan of Zimbabwe Mr. Georgios has set this gospel mandate as the life objective. With “His Reverence” I have been friendly for a few years, so I did not have much trouble accepting his invitation to go to this distant African country, in the Easter last year. I had already heard too much about Zimbabwe and, judging from the activity of the Metropolitan in Cyprus, I was sure there is a serious missionary work there. And now this unexpected invitation would give me the opportunity to put “my finger where the nails were” (John 20:25)...

The history of Monasticism. Antonios the Great, “The Teacher of the Desert”. The Canon of Saint Benedict

Monasticism is the ripe fruit of the wider ascetic ideal of Christian teaching, which in the first three centuries was expressed with the Christians’ enthusiasm and the various forms of ascetic spirituality. The ascetic tendencies took the form of personal gift of certain people, as well as of collective quest for spiritual perfection. Those tendencies had the form of opposition to the tendencies for relaxation of Christians’ moral life...

The Greek Manuscripts in western Europe

Since the fall of the Roman Empire, the Greek language stopped being used in the western part of the Empire at such extent that in the Middle Ages it was very difficult to find someone who spoke good Greek. In 9th century A.D., when some interest for ancient Greek texts arose, those who were interested started approaching them through translations, which were increased stage by stage. At the end of 13th century A.D., the time of humanism, those who were interested could read all the works that continue to be known to us today...

The Macumba religion

Like Voodoo, the Macumba movement was developed among Latin American slaves, with the blending of Christian elements and traditional religious beliefs and practices. It contains the same pantheon of idolatry, fetish, symbols of the Roman Catholic Church, ecstatic dances and sacrifices...
